How would you describe your job at REAC?
I assemble actuators and seating systems for products in the medical sector. Iโm a professionally certified IPC specialist. My main activities are soldering, testing and packing, but Iโve worked in different positions during my ten years at REAC, and I like developing my skills.
What do you like most about your job?
I really enjoy soldering cables and technical electronics. I like working with many different people. Weโre a good team that help each other, and weโve become friends outside of work as well.
Whatโs the most challenging part of your job?
There are not too many challenges now, because Iโve been here for ten years. And the things I do at work are part of my interests outside of work. In the village where I live, I have a farm where I do a lot of work on the vehicles and machines, even with electronics. So my job and my hobbies overlap. I enjoy making and fixing things when I can. Itโs relaxing.
What keeps you motivated during the workday?
I like the atmosphere, itโs a nice place to work, with friendly and helpful colleagues. My dad also works at REAC, as a machine operator.
How did you start working at REAC?
Partly thanks to my dad. When it was time for me to start working, I knew about REAC from him, and they offered me work that was relevant to my qualifications.
How do you think your co-workers would describe you?
Iโm helpful and always happy to answer questions and give suggestions. I think they feel confident that I can help them.
What brings you joy in everyday life?
Being healthy, and having a job that allows me to travel. Also, having plenty of animals at the farmโcats, dogs, chickens and so on.
What do you like to do when youโre not working?
Watching and playing sports, such as football, handball, volleyball, table tennis, ski jumping, bicycling, roller skating and ice skating. We have a lake on the farm, where you can skate in winter, and go fishing in summer. I like to grow vegetables and build things, for example for the garden. In the forest around the village, I can pick mushrooms and blueberries, and cut wood for my building projects. I really like hiking and travelling. When I travel I want to get to know the country and its people, to participate and understand the culture. Iโm also part of the fire and rescue brigade in my village. Thatโs where I got my professional first-aid skills that I can use at work, as well as being a part of a first aiders team.
Do you have any talent or hobby that might surprise people?
Every year I bicycle the 100 km pilgrimage from Lubien to Czestochowa. This is a local village tradition, but now Iโve gotten co-workers from REAC to join us too.
Do you have a โhappy placeโ?
Lubien, the village where I live. I like that itโs in the middle of a forest, and that itโs small, with about 500 people. Everyone knows each other there.
If you could have any three people as dinner guests, who would you invite?
The former pope, Saint John Paul II, who was from Poland. Heโs someone I admire, and Iโd love to talk to him about travelling. He was a very good person. Then Iโd invite Adam Malysz, a Polish ski jumper, and ask him what he did to become successful. The third person would be David Attenborough. Iโd want to talk to him about all the places heโs visited.
Do you have any role models in life?
Apart from the pope, Iโd say my granddad. We had a great relationship, and he taught me a lot about history through his own experiences, as well as about things of everyday life.
Do you have any dreams that you would like to fulfill?
I want to see the whole world! The most beautiful places. I want to experience the cultures, see the architecture, meet the people. An old dream that Iโve already fulfilled was to refurbish an old car. Thatโs an achievement Iโm proud of.
The purpose of REACโs products is to help people improve their quality of life.
What does quality of life mean to you?
To recognize whatโs important in life. Iโm grateful for being able to afford to do things that Iโve dreamed of, such as travelling. Iโm happy that I can contribute to making important products at work, by doing my best to produce good quality. Since my job is such a big part of my life, having a job that makes me happy enhances my quality of life.
