Our energetic, animal-saving customer service queen

When Dorota Kruz opens her REAC inbox, she is ready for anything from small talk to challenging customer needs. For her, challenges offer growth and motivation, not only at work. Ever since childhood, Dorota has been passionate about helping animals in need. โ€My mom would pack me a sandwich for school every day, but I kept feeding it to stray dogs.โ€

How would you describe your job at REAC?
I work in customer service, but my actual work includes much more, such as handling shipments, invoices, custom clearance, and claims. Thereโ€™s a lot of logistics involved.

What do you like most about your job?
I like that itโ€™s more than customer service. It lets me grow and develop within different areas. I enjoy working with my customers, because itโ€™s not only about information and confirmation, but also the social interaction. I appreciate cooperating with themโ€”we have very nice customers. Itโ€™s important to do small-talkโ€”to talk not only about their orders, but also about their lives.

What is the most challenging part of your job?
Situations when a customer want something earlier, when something is urgent. Or if thereโ€™s an incident with transports, something unexpected thatโ€™s not within our control. Thatโ€™s the hardest part. I really want to help, and mostly we find solutions so that we can meet the customers wishes. But nobody can do everything. Itโ€™s real life, and things happen. Itโ€™s frustrating that doing my very best isnโ€™t always enough.

What keeps you motivated during the workday?
The challenges! And the people I work with, in all our departments. We have a good atmosphere. Iโ€™ve been at REAC since 2013, and Iโ€™ve worked in different roles throughout the company. Itโ€™s motivating to see how we have grown since then; how we keep turning things that seem impossible into reality.

How do you think your co-workers would describe you?
Energeticโ€“I like to talk a lot. And sarcastic, for sure, but still a nice person. They would probably say that I like to help animals and grow flowers.

What brings you joy in everyday life.
Flowers, my garden. It makes me relax. Spending time with my family, talking about what weโ€™ve done during the day. And helping stray animals is also a big part of my life.

What do you like to do when youโ€™re not working?
I have a child, and I have seven cats of my own. So the cat distribution system is working. And I spend a lot of time helping stray cats. Itโ€™s exhausting, but very rewarding to help spay, feed and cure them. Iโ€™ve always been very aware of the suffering of animals, and I want to do what I can to help them. Itโ€™s frustrating to know that I canโ€™t do everything. When I see someone suffer I canโ€™t help thinking about how I might be able to help. Of course, the garden takes time as well. I canโ€™t stop buying plants. My friends know that I can t stop, so they try to hold me back. But itโ€™s nice to know that when the plants grow, eventually I can share them with others.

Do you have any talent or hobby that might surprise people?
I do a lot of home renovation work on my own. Putting up panels and building things in the garden, for example. I know how to do it, and I like being able to turn my ideas into reality. I donโ€™t have to wait for someone else to do it for me.

Do you have a โ€happy placeโ€?
Everywhere. My happy place is in my heart and head.

If you could have any three people as dinner guests, who would you invite?
My family and close friends. Weโ€™re always in a hurry, so we need time to relax and spend time together. I think many people are missing that in life.

Did you have any role models or dreams when you were growing up?
My dream was always to help animals. When I grew up in the 80โ€™s, my mom would pack me a sandwich for school every day, but I kept feeding it to stray dogs. Iโ€™ve always loved all animals.

Do you have any dreams now, that you would like to fulfill?
To help more animals, and also people who are suffering, who are alone and need support. In my opinion, our society doesnโ€™t do enough. Iโ€™d like to collect money to create a safe place for children who are abused or have other problems at home.

The purpose of REACโ€™s products is to help people improve their quality of life. What does quality of life mean to you?
Health and financial stability are very important. Not having to worry about tomorrow. Having friends and family close by. You might always want more, but itโ€™s important to appreciate those things.
